Mary Wells

Mary Wells is a Director of CTWD.

She is an independent Director, Writer Producer based in Jamaica.

She has worked for Gov’t Broadcasting, US cable TV, a private production company and has some twenty years experience in television and film production. She is constantly doing production work of all kinds and has developed, produced and directed programs for mainly the Caribbean region, specialising in many documentary works. She studied in the USA, did Television Production and Theatre Arts and has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the George Washington University, Wash DC, 1982.

A feature length movie. Directed/Produced and written. It’s now in post-production . A noire thriller, off beat. It takes us through the chaotic violent lives of disenfranchised youth in Jamaica…“Rocksy, a taxi driver/street pimp, yearns for change in his skewed life, so commits a crime to fast-track his rightful place in a Caribbean paradise, but as he journey’s there, he’s forced to re-learn that the paradise already belongs to him, it’s his to have and enjoy, regardless of life’s harsh imperfections.”

“NOW JIMMY!” 15 Mins.
A short documentary that explores land rights issues. The film follows a riveting and unusual story about Jimmy, a squatter who has built his own house out of salvaged wood and metal on prime Jamaican real estate.

Awarded: “Outstanding Documentary from the Caribbean” by the Sheryl Lee Ralph, Jamerican Film & Music Festival, November 1999.

Accepted: in the prestigious, “Toronto Int’l Film Festival, 2002.

Also chosen by UNESCO to be a part on an international selection of films from around the world for the new Radio-Television Afghanistan.
